“ In the award-winning documentary THE WITNESS, Eddie Lama explains how he feared and avoided animals for most of his life, until the love of a kitten opened his heart, inspiring him to rescue abandoned animals and bring his message of compassion to the streets of New York.”
There is a wonderful website with over 2000 documentaries at Documentary Heaven. If you have not yet seen this one, I do warn you, it has graphic images. However harsh it may seem, If you love animals, watch. Talk about it with your spouses and friends, so we can try to help these creatures. And If you don’t love animals, then what the hell is wrong with you?
Do you think you would love your mentally disabled child? Even though he/she would not be as smart as the other children? Would you love him regardless of how well he could understand you and the world around him or her? Would he/she feel pain and suffering as much as a smarter child would?
Of course you would love that child. Maybe you would even feel that this child might need even more care and understanding. If something is so helpless, we are smart and should realise by now that ALL living things feel pain.
Do ALL animals feel emotions even though they are expressionless sometimes? Yes!
Cats, dogs, pigs, cows, foxes, seals, chickens…they feel.
Do you have compassion? I only say this because I am tired of people saying it “doesn’t matter” how we kill these animals because they are “meant to be eaten” or “not as smart as a cat or dog.”
Sorry if I make you angry, but it starts here. A lot of change can come from the awareness. Help me make a difference.
So, how exactly do the animals die that we eat? Was it killed after having a normal, humane life? Or was it handled like a sack of potatoes? Think of it the next time you sit down to eat your cow, chicken or pig. It will disgust you, and make you want to vomit. But that is because you care! You just haven’t seen it with your own eyes.
They have to make a change. Facilities are still hoarding chickens and pigs, the living conditions are despicable. Many animals are not treated for illness and discarded like damaged goods. Money seems to be the main reason. The demand is high and so the conditions are compromised.
I honor what the man in this film is doing. He is a quirky, sensitive individual. I am enthralled by cause fighters in general. However there is something about this man. He is honest driven and passionately in tune with the animals he saves.
Keep eating the meat, but the way these animals die is wrong.
There is also a lot of talk in the film about fur. That is even worse than anything ever. You will be astonished, amazed and flabbergasted.
Tell me your opinions, they count and I may use some in a further project.
